I thought I’d share the character designs I’ve done so far for a project I’m currently working on for our Production Design class. The idea was to take a Philippine mythical creature and design characters and environments based on it. I chose the Kataw, which are the ruling class of mermaids in Philippine folklore. They have legs instead of a single tail and have fins and gills on their bodies.

I’ve based each character on a different type of fish. (Check the captions)
